18 weeks…

17 November 2009 No Comment

It’s coming up to the 18 week point now and I felt the baby kick – or at least there was some movement that I could feel. I placed my hand on the lower stomach of my wife and my timing was perfect. It was a lovely feeling. I felt like I had connected with my child and that they were wiggling to say hello.

Our little boy, Alfie, is keeping us busy this week. He seems to have masses and masses of energy. In all fairness though I suppose that I’d be quite lively in the daytime if I went to bed at 8pm every night. Maybe I should give it a try for a couple of weeks. On the subject of Alfie, I took him to a bonfire and fireworks display the other night.
He loved it. He gazed at the fire open mouthed and appeared to be fascinated by the flames as the blazed into the dark night sky. When the fireworks started I thought that they may unsettle him as the load bangs and whistling would be something he hadn’t experienced before. Turns he was fine. Okay so the first load bang startled him a little and he cried out for a second or two but moments later the tears were gone and he was hypnotised by the flashing colours as the fireworks went up into the sky for around 20 minutes.

It’s fair to say he liked the Fireworks much more than the illuminations in Blackpool.
With Christmas fast approaching I can’t seem to fathom who’s going to be more excited this year, me, my wife or Alfie. Me probably as I’m just a big kid at heart.
