Baby boom !!

31 August 2010 No Comment

According to reports the cold weather in January of this year resulted in many couple finding alternative ways of keeping warm – the result being 12 week scans for March totalling well above the usual monthly average. Consequently September is expected to be a very busy month in the maternity wards across the UK.

Kicking it all off at the end of August is Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha, whose baby girl was born early on Tuesday 24th August and delivered by Caesarean section at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

Child birth seems to come in waves in any case. Firstly let me congratulate Lee and Lawrie – friends of Superdads.co.uk – on the birth of their second child. Following this arrival there will be many more with friends and relatives of mine expecting 2 babies in September, 1 baby in October, 1 baby in January and 1 baby in February.
Here’s to the safe arrival of all of them. In addition to these births Congratulations go to Sharon and John Vann who have recently been matched for adoption.

Just to confirm, there aren’t any new additions expected our household. We’ve got our hands full already with Alfie and Charlie. I was chatting to a good friend of mine the other day who has three kids and I couldn’t help but express my admiration. Two kids can be hard work but given we have a one on one ratio as a family it makes things controllable. When the children out number the adults – well, that’s a different story.

Alfie is settling down with his insulin pump now and his blood sugar levels are really starting to see the benefit of the transition. In the meantime, Charlie is growing fast. He is already trying to get up onto all fours in an attempt to crawl. He does make me laugh. Each morning I see his head popping up over the top of his bed as he attempts to look at the TV. It really is a comical site.

In previous blogs I have told you of my upcoming charity event in aid of JDRF (Juvenile diabetes research fund). I’d just like to let you know that this is now booked for 2nd July 2011 at the Bescot Stadium in Walsall, West Midlands. If you’d like to enquire about tickets or can support by donating towards the auction/raffle please contact me at lee.diabetesfundraising@googlemail.com

One final point in the update, well a moan really – Why is it that after August we have to wait until Christmas before we have another Bank Holiday in the UK? In the words of Al Murray – Shame on you!!
