Should we tell our friends…

So we’ve told our immediate families, the next decision is when to tell our friends about our impending arrival. It’s usually 12/13 weeks before the first scan and that tends to be the most common time for people to share their good news, I on the other hand am really excited and want the world to know now.
I understand the caution during the early days of pregnancy as we have previously experienced the heartbreak that miscarriage can bring but without the family and friends that helped us through on that …

Morning Sickness…

The signs of pregnancy are already showing – morning sickness has kicked in. Morning sickness is a strange turn of phase as sickness related to having a baby can occur at any time of the day.
Remembering back to when we had our son, ginger biscuits were the saviour, as such I dashed to the shops for the all important packet of biscuits. These really do help limit the effects of morning sickness, not sure how but they do.

On the subject of peoples reactions though I wonder how many times we will hear the following, …

One week on…

Only one week has passed since we have found out that we are to have our second child.
Having told our parents the news we have decided not to share the news with anyone else just yet. Albeit we talk about the new arrival pretty much every hour as we consider how we will redecorate the bedrooms and like most couples we debate whether it’s going to be a girl or a boy.
Neither of us really mind if it’s a girl or a boy but deep down I think Alex would …

It’s begun…

It was a Friday morning on which I woke early as we had decided the night before to perform a pregnancy test first thing. I gently nudged my wife to wake her to get on with things. We were both hopeful that there would be a baby on the way, so with anticipation we waited for the test to take effect. Moments later there was a gleeful look on Alex’s face. I automatically knew the outcome – I’m to be a dad for the second time.
That day started brilliantly but …
