Checking in with the midwife…

16 October 2009 No Comment

I left early from work today to join up with my wife and son at the Midwife appointment. I had thought of telling everyone in the office that I needed to meet with the building inspector, who has been involved with the extension we are having built, but in the end I decided to tell them that we are expecting our second baby. It was good to finally share the good news and there were smiles all around.

Anyway, I got myself over to the Clinic in double quick time – I think this is the moment that it really kicks in that a baby is on the way. I think going to the doctors just seems to make it official.

The first appointment with the midwife was quite a pleasant one. We answered what seemed like a million questions but it was all very light-hearted and somewhat exciting at the same time.

We not only met our midwife but also a student who is in her final year to become one. We agreed to let her follow our pregnancy as a case study and as such she will be with us along the way. It’ll be nice for a recognisable and friendly face to be there each time we need to attend an appointment.

Upon leaving the clinic we were buzzing….the process had begun, there are blood appointments, scans and further midwife appointments already scheduled for us.
