Christmas…
What a great time of year!!! I love Christmas. Food, food, food and more food, all washed down by buck loads of beer and wine – Fantastic. This year was more than just food and drink though. It was Alfie’s second Christmas and as special as a babies first Christmas is the second one is even better. This year he was of an age where he could respond to what was happening around him.
Let me tell you about Christmas morning. We entered the lounge where the presents from Santa were waiting. Alfie took one look and ran straight past all the presents to the coffee table where he took great amusement bashing the drinks coasters off of it.
To get his attention we started to unwrap one or two of his presents and he soon got the idea that they were more than just big boxes that had been covered in bright paper.
Thomas the Tank engine, Peppa pig etc etc, his eyes were as wide as saucers. It was a lovely morning.
The Christmas lunch was a little bit of chaos this year. Alfie hadn’t slept all day and just as lunch time arrived the tiredness hit him. He needed a sleep and with in minutes of putting him down to rest he was snoring giving us time to relax and enjoy our festive food.
I must take this opportunity to thank my wife for all the driving she did over Christmas so that I could have the odd tipple. It really is one of the great benefits when your wife is pregnant. No doubt I’ll be driving for the next 50 Christmas’ now to make up for it though.
