Help your partner by keeping the house in order. You can assist with the household chores giving her time to recover from the birth.

Help out with the baby. It will enable you spend plenty of time with your son or daughter and build up your confidence. The more you do in the first couple of weeks the more confident as a father you will be.

Night shifts can be difficult to do when you return to work so why not take advantage of your time off from work and get up in the night to attend to your new addition. Not only is this of great support to your partner but it is also character building for you.

Make sure your around when the Health visitor comes to visit. It’s a chance for you to ask questions that you want a professional to answer.

Use the time you have to go and register the birth.
