The dating scan…

16 October 2009 No Comment

We arrived at the hospital at 11.25am and, when we eventually found a parking space, made our way into the ante-natal clinic. Our appointment for the scan was at 11.40am but, from past experience, we thought it would be a long afternoon as the hospital usually take there time over everything. So with Ginger biscuits in one pocket and a large bag of fruit pastilles in the other we took a seat in the waiting room with Jade, our trainee midwife. I couldn’t believe my ears when after only 5 minutes we were called in for the scan.

The scan was amazing. The first site of our child was a moment to savour. Up until the point of seeing that little flickering image on the screen I’m not entirely sure that pregnancy seems real. Obviously there has been the morning sickness but when you see the scan picture it really sinks in that a baby is on its way.
After the scan we booked in for the 20 week appointment and made our way home. To my delight we were home before 1pm so I had a nice relaxing couple of hours before taking my wife and son, along with our parents out to Chiquitos for dinner.

Since the scan I have been telling everyone about our good news and showing the photo to anyone who is willing to look at it. I wonder how many people I can bore with baby stories today?
